Established in 1875, Ouse Angling Preservation Society (OAPS) has access to fishing on many parts of the tidal and non-tidal Sussex Ouse downstream as far as Hamsey, north of Lewes. 

 

All of the usual coarse species, including some reaching 'specimen' sizes, are present in the river, together with a run of sea trout to over 10lb.

The Society provides access to the fishery with sea trout and coarse fishing permits sold direct and coarse permits sold by some local fishing tackle shops and other outlets.

OAPS has a water sharing agreement with Copthorne and District Angling Society (CDAS) giving access to most of the river from Goldbridge (Newick) downstream to the Anchor Inn, plus a number of stillwaters.
