The committee is pleased to announce that day tickets will be available to non members when the new coarse season starts on June 16th for the river above Barcombe Mills weir. They can be purchased from the Barcombe post office, Percy's tackle shop in Lewes, all our other tackle outlets listed on this site or from the Permit Secretary.. (Please email in the first instance). The price is £12 for Adults, £6 for U19s. U14s fish for free if accompanied by a paying adult.
As anyone who has been to the river above Barcombe Mills on a warm summer weekend will already know the area is popular with paddle boarders and swimmers. Day tickets are purchased on the understanding that during popular times anglers are unlikely to have the water to themselves. We won't be issuing refunds.
Please pay special attention to the rules on the day ticket regarding fishing for predatory species. We are unapologetically strict on this to protect our sea trout and pike populations. There is to be no fishing with artificial lures or spinners on a day ticket until November 1st.
Also strictly no fishing in the mill pond itself or anywhere downstream of the mills. The mill pond / weir is bookable by annual sea trout permit holders only. We hope anyone buying a day ticket has an enjoyable time fishing. Our bailiffs and other committee members will be doing the rounds to check tickets. Please treat them with the courtesy you would expect yourself. On the flip side of that don't be afraid to tap them up for advise!
